Demi McKavanagh

I grew up in New Zealand and moved to Australia in 2019.

Before becoming a lawyer, I dabbled with the idea of becoming a marine biologist as I have always liked being near the ocean.

In 2018 I was admitted as a lawyer in New Zealand and kind of fell into the area of estate planning and deceased estates. I also love being challenged intellectually – which makes this kind of law a good fit for me.

I have practiced in several other areas, but always get drawn back to estate matters as I like building relationships with people.

I continued to focus on these areas of law when I was admitted as a lawyer in Australia in 2019.

I moved to Newcastle when my best friend moved here and I’m glad I did!  I love the beach and the climate. The fact that the people are so friendly is an added bonus. The clients and team at Masons are great to work with as well.

I am a creative person at heart, and love to paint in my spare time. I particularly enjoy painting the ocean.

My ideal day off involves a cooked breakfast and a day at the beach with friends.
