Will & Estate Planning
Back in the 'good old days', estate planning was simple. It involved making a will which would leave everything to your spouse and kids.
Numerous factors make estate planning more complex today, including the prevalence of blended families, the increase in the variety and number of assets as well as the potential for taxation implications. It is more important than ever to implement strategies to protect your wealth and to ensure your estate is distributed in accordance with your wishes.
At Mason Lawyers, our experienced lawyers can help you tailor your estate planning documents to suit your individual needs.
Estates & Will Disputes
If you have been unfairly provided for in a will, or left out completely, you may be able to challenge the validity of the will or make an application for a redistribution of the assets of an estate. Generally speaking, you are eligible for provision from an estate if you are/were:-
• The husband or wife or de facto partner of the deceased;
• A former wife or husband of the deceased;
• A child or grandchild of the deceased;
• A person who was wholly or partly dependent on the deceased (for example, a step-child or foster child);
• A person with whom the deceased was living in a close personal relationship at the time of the deceased's death.
At Mason Lawyers, our contested wills team can provide you with the advice you need. We offer an initial 30 minute consultation in disputed wills matters free of charge.
